Yale Type Lock Cylinder
As the name suggests a Yale type lock cylinder would normally be fitted with a Yale type lock body. The lock cylinder would be on the outside of the door secured by two screws internally and the lock body would be on the inside of the door. Locksmiths Barry supply this type of cylinder in a 5 pin or 6 pin version, they can also have hardened pins to protect against drilling and have more recently become available in a British Standard kite marked version.
Europrofile Lock Cylinders
Europrofile Lock Cylinders have become by far the most common type of lock cylinder in recent years. They are typically found on multipoint locking systems fitted to PVC doors but could equally be fitted to lock units on wooden or aluminium doors and commercial buildings. Locksmiths Barry supply this type of cylinder in a 5 pin or 6 pin version, they can also have hardened pins to protect against drilling and have more recently become available in a British Standard kite marked version.
Oval Profile Lock Cylinder
Oval profile lock cylinders function in a similar way to the europrofile lock cylinder but are slowly becoming less common. Historically, they were typically fitted to aluminium doors and master keyed systems on commercial buildings. Screw-In Lock Cylinder
Screw-In-Lock cylinders are normally fitted to Adams Rite locking units on aluminium shopfront doors. As the name suggests the locks screw in to the Adams Rite lock body, one externally and on internally. The locks would normally be keyed alike in pairs so that the same key opens the internal and external lock cylinder. Swedish Lock Cylinders
Swedish Lock cylinders are not as common in the UK as the other types described. They typically consist of an internal and external cylinder keyed alike and tend to be fitted to top end installations on commercial buildings. Mr Locks Registered Profile Lock Cylinders
Mr Locks High Security Registered Profile Lock Cylinders are available in all of the above cylinder types. It is a very high security system which consists of a 6 pin mechanism in addition to a secondary side bar mechanism. The Keys are unique to Mr Locks and cannot be copied therefore adding to the security of the system. The locks are also anti drill, anti-pick and anti-bump in addition to having a stainless steel connecting rod to prevent snapping.
